Position Summary

SANS Institute is looking for a Social Media Manager to join our Brand and Communications team. We’re seeking an experienced marketer who can tackle digital copywriting, social inbox management, scheduling, and reporting alongside our growing global social media team. This is a great opportunity for a nimble and thoughtful individual with social media management experience to strengthen their skill set in community engagement, strategy and audience development. In this role, you’ll have the rare opportunity to influence the social strategy of a company that empowers and educates current and future cybersecurity practitioners with practical skills and knowledge to make our world a safer place

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating, testing, and monitoring organic social media content on our global channels to support marketing promotions, increase awareness of our courses, certifications and increase our follower base
  • Manage the postings on SANS social media channels, including the creation of posts, responding to inquiries, and identifying what content is most effective at growing our list, driving qualified visitors to our course pages, and driving revenue attainment
  • Work closely with our B2C and B2B Campaign and Field Marketing managers to deploy and manage social media campaigns per region/sub-region
  • Keeping abreast of new social media technologies, digital marketing trends and implementing these new technologies into our activities
  • Working with Content, Creative Services and PMM teams to develop engaging social media content including videos, graphics, and blogs; monitoring and analyzing content success

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of proven experience in organic social media marketing and content development and campaign management, including experience developing strategic community engagement (social listening)
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), with an emphasis in Marketing discipline preferred
  • An aptitude for customer care, corporate communications, collaboration and community building
  • An understanding of the evolving social media landscape and the ability to use social listening to bring forward new ideas for the greater marketing team
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies and messaging across various social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of social trends, audiences, reporting and paid tactics
  • Experience building, executing and scaling social-first marketing programs
  • Experience distilling social data and insights into actionable strategies that inform business goals
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Direct experience using social media management tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite
  • Experience using web analytics tools, in particular, Google Analytics
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Preference for specific experience in B2B and cybersecurity products/services
  • A creative problem solver that is comfortable initiating new ideas, strategies
  • A start-up mentality, high sense of urgency as well as an ability to interface with multiple team members to ensure goals are met/aligned
  • A pro-active forward-thinking team player – collaborative and cross-functional team member, able to multitask and get input from multiple other professionals
