Here’s a great opportunity for you to join our Global Retail Development team within LEGO Retail, leading our China specific initiatives in terms of store concept innovation and store format across channels, to delight our customers and deliver our commercial targets.

Functional Expertise:

  • Translate China market & shopper insights into actionable design inputs to our Global Store Concept, ensuring relevance and impact while aligning with global brand strategy

  • Develop, test and implement China specific in-store solutions that allow for innovative & customer-centric retail experiences across formats, while delivering value for the brand and supporting our commercial plans

  • Develop and manage the China store concept innovation roadmap and rollout plans, partnering with global teams to ensure consistency with brand standards across formats

  • Ensure the highest quality of creative output, delivered on time and within budget, while adhering to industry regulations, local compliance policies and company guidelines.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to ensure LEGO retail design in China remains innovative and forward-thinking.

  • Support the end-to-end process of new store openings, remodels, and relocations, ensuring operational efficiency and design excellence.

  • Support LEGO Retail China team and China Market Group stakeholders providing Retail Development input as needed.

  • Act as a strategic partner to LEGO Retail China and the China Market Group

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between Retail Development and the China Market Group, working cross-functionally to align strategies and multiple stakeholders

  • Ensure Retail Development priorities are integrated into local market strategies, while advocating China-specific needs into the global retail development plans.

  • Bring a comprehensive understanding of business priorities to every decision, ensuring a well-rounded focus on store design, concepts, formats, segmentation, and retail real estate.

  • Balance creative ambition with commercial viability, ensuring all Retail Development initiatives support both brand elevation and business performance.

  • Facilitate open communication & drive joint decisions by fostering trust, demonstrating expertise and maintaining a collaborative and solution-driven attitude.

  • Act as strategic partner to key stakeholders, ensuring that insights and recommendations drive meaningful impact at both local and global levels.

  • Create a culture of respect, partnership and shared success across teams and functions.

  • Represent the Retail Development Leadership Team in Shanghai, serving as key point of contact for local team members who report into managers based outside of China.

  • Provide guidance, support and strategic direction on global objectives while addressing unique regional challenges and opportunities.

  • Clearly articulate creative concepts through compelling narratives, bridging design innovation with business objectives.

In this role, you will bridge global and local strategies, driving innovative, customer-centric retail concepts and physical touchpoints in China based on market insights and commercial goals

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor / master degree, majored in architecture, or environment design, or related field is preferred

  • Minimum 15 years' of relevant experience in store development roles with premium lifestyle brands that deliver best in class retail experiences to customers

  • Proven ability to deliver complex retail concept & rollout programs in China, with end-to-end understanding of retail real estate, retail design, construction and store maintenance

  • Architectural background and proficiency with design software

  • Track record of versatility, execution, and effective priority management to drive decision making across key stakeholders

  • Strong ability to drive collaboration and cross-functional work to ensure deadlines are met

  • Business acumen and ability to understand market & shopper insights as well as commercial opportunities across multiple shopper and consumer audiences

  • Agile and with an entrepreneurial spirit, finding innovative approaches and solutions to the challenges of this role.
