Job Purpose:
Most products do not delight us because we consider them ‘done’ once they become easy to use (convenient). The best products push through and bring meaning and delight. We are looking for an experienced, passionate, detail-oriented art director who has deep experience in digital branding and UI design. A specialist who can push the quality of our digital products to make them ‘pleasurable’ and ‘meaningful’ and make them award-worthy. They carry a strong aesthetic sense and know how to add consistency to visually inconsistent artefacts and spaces. They don’t mind bringing this capability beyond digital and are comfortable with print and physical spaces & surfaces. They are masters of craft and collaboration and love to help others see the world through a more beautiful lens.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Lead efforts to bring together disparate visual directions within the organization, establishing and maintaining a cohesive and unified brand
and design system for digital products.
• Elevate the visual design quality of digital products, ensuring a seamless and visually compelling user experience across all touchpoints.
• Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to align digital product designs with overall brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent and recognizable brand identity.
• Spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive design system, providing guidelines for visual elements, typography, color schemes, and interactions.
• Work closely with product managers, product designers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between design and functional goals.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to the design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, design best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve and innovate our product design processes.
Key Skills:
• Significant experience (7+ years) in art direction and digital design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful unification of visual directions and impactful digital product designs.
• Proven ability to lead and inspire a design team, driving the development of a unified design vision across digital products.
• Expertise in brand development and alignment, ensuring digital product designs are in harmony with overall brand guidelines.
• Experience in developing and implementing design systems, with a focus on scalability and consistency.
• Strong understanding of digital product design principles, including UI/UX, interaction design, and user-centred design methodologies.
• Comfortable with multiple design formats (web, native, print), multimedia (photography, illustration, typography, kinetic and motion design, etc.)
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• An online portfolio that documents your best work and thinking process (a PDF would do too). If not, you might be asked to take a design assignment.
