As a Senior Event Director, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Practice, to shape and execute the overarching event strategy that defines our brand's excellence. You will oversee a team of seasoned event professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and inspiration to drive exceptional results across a diverse portfolio of events. Your role will involve managing high-level client relationships, developing innovative event concepts, and identifying strategic growth opportunities for the company. Your extensive industry experience, strategic acumen, and ability to deliver unparalleled event experiences will be instrumental in reinforcing our reputation as an industry leader.
This is a 12 month contract to perm role.
Responsibilities:
Proposal & Pitches
- Define the strategic approach to proposal creation and pitching at a high level, aligning it with organizational goals and values.
- Set standard protocols and procedures for proposal development and pitching.
Event Marketing
- Provide high-level strategic leadership for the GTM plan, aligning marketing efforts with the organization's long-term vision.
- Implement innovative marketing approaches to enhance event reach and engagement.
Event Planning and Coordination
- Define the strategic direction for event planning and coordination, ensuring it aligns with the organization's mission.
- Foster innovative approaches and emerging trends in event planning.
Vendor Management
- Oversee the management of a diverse portfolio of vendors for large-scale events and projects.
- Evaluate vendor performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness to make informed decisions.
Budget Oversight and Optimisation
- Monitor vendor-related expenditures to ensure they align with the allocated budget.
- Implement strategies to optimise costs while maintaining high-quality vendor services and products.
Risk Management and Troubleshooting
- Implement strategies to mitigate operational risks associated with event logistics, technology, and participant experience.
- Ensure alignment of operational risk mitigation with broader event and organisational risk strategies.
On-site Event Management
- Provide strategic oversight of onsite operations to ensure alignment with Practice goals and standards.
- Offer guidance on critical onsite decisions and potential improvements.
Post-Event Evaluation and Reporting
- Develop a long-term post-event evaluation strategy to drive continuous improvement in event execution.
- Incorporate innovative approaches to enhance evaluation processes.
Budget & Financial Management
- Establish governance structures and policies for budget management across the event department.
- Ensure budgetary compliance and alignment with organisational financial objectives.
- Develop long-term financial strategies and initiatives to enhance budget efficiency and cost management.
- Lead in optimising financial processes related to event budgeting and reporting.
Client Relationship Management
- Engage in strategic discussions and negotiations with top-tier clients to strengthen partnerships and align event strategies.
- Oversee the development and execution of strategies to acquire new high-profile clients.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Provide high-level guidance and direction to event directors, managers, and their respective teams, emphasising the organisation's long-term vision and objectives.
- Encourage collaboration and shared responsibility for achieving Practice goals.
Practice Marketing (External Positioning)
- Lead in shaping the agency's strategic positioning, focusing on differentiating the agency from competitors and showcasing its unique value proposition.
- Oversee the creation of impactful marketing campaigns that resonate with the target audience and elevate the agency's industry standing.
Requirements:
- Preferable bachelor’s degree or similar in Event Management, Business, Marketing, Hospitality or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience/exposure amongst an agency within the Event Marketing Industry (Internationally) with proven experience at leadership/management level.
- Preferable within the B2B Technology Sector.
- Direct experience of leading and managing multi-layered/complex event experience strategies from brief to event strategy, proposal, to conception to completion, whilst being part of a team to produce larger more complex campaigns (in-person or digitally).
- Capability to lead on client pitch responses, with a key focus on the overarching event experience strategy, and assigning and activating the pitch team, to driving the response to submission and presentation.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management and collaboration, across either direct report, cross agency departments/practices, and onsite vendor staff/crew.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- A keen eye for detail, creative thinker, and problem-solver abilities to handle unexpected situations and find innovative event solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise, communicate with clients and vendors.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Confident and charismatic public speaker.
- Strategic thinker to be able to advise and optimise our clients event experience throughout the campaign lifecycle.
- Familiarity with event industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies/experience within Event Marketing to influence/inform the team and the Event Practice.
- Proficiency in event management software's & platforms, project management tools, and Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to oversee events.
