ECI has a Long History Building in the Austin Area.

Engen Contracting Inc. was founded in 1997 by two brothers, Chris and Geoff Engen. At the inception, they had a vision to serve the local community with a dependable, faith driven and trusted Austin commercial construction company. Like any other startup, they tried their hand on assorted projects and came to an early realization that their niche market focused mainly on the commercial construction industry. Since that time, ECI has redefined itself through a transformation that broadened its focus into the Central Texas area with additional exposure in the San Antonio, Houston and DFW markets with construction for office, retail, healthcare, self-storage, automotive, restaurants/breweries, and child development facilities.

ECI is motivated to effectively serve its clients by way of aligning them with a construction team best suited for the needs of the specific project at hand. The company is fully licensed, bonded and insured, to meet your partnering requirements.

Guided by a Clear and Simple Philosophy.

Chris Engen, President of ECI, says his philosophy is clear and simple: Think through solutions and execute a well thought out plan, conduct business practices in an ethical and fair manner, provide the customer the service they’ve bought into and don’t change stripes regardless of the circumstances. This consistent philosophy has afforded ECI the opportunity to attain successful results on a project by project basis regardless of variations in chemistry. Success is almost exclusively determined by our ability to build lasting and positive relationships.

Quality is paramount within our philosophy. It is important that not only our client and the architects’ and engineers’ expectations are met, but it is critical for ECI to feel a great sense of pride upon the completion of a project and which then becomes the standard for achieving success.

We drill into our field staff, who in turn evangelizes this same mentality out to active vendors on each of their respective projects, to get completely marinated with the plans/specifications and, not any less important, listen to each of our client’s needs & expectations. This exercise in the infancy project stage includes the identification of discrepancies within the ‘Construction Documents’ which are immediately brought to the attention of the design team. Superintendents would not be working for ECI if they couldn’t immediately identify straight, plumb, consistent, level, etc. means of construction standards. We surround ourselves with sub-contractors who share the same quality standards as ourselves.

A Commitment to Safety with NO Losses to Date.

At our work sites, ECI is committed to the safety of all team members, workers, sub-contractors, and others, including the general public. Safety must never be compromised. It is part of quality workmanship and the mark of true professionals. To further our commitment to health and safety, ECI established the ‘No’ Injury program.

The elimination of all injuries is possible, and we are dedicated to achieving this goal. Every team member on every project is obligated to assume responsibility for safety and work towards the ‘No’ Injury goal by:

  • Proactively plan to set the best, job specific, safety program in place
  • Conducting work in a safe manner
  • Drug & alcohol testing programs
  • Company safety and health manuals
  • New employee orientation and training
  • Belief that a safe job is a productive job
  • Identifying and eliminating unsafe conditions
  • Stopping work immediately to correct any unsafe condition encountered
  • Taking corrective action so that work can proceed in a safe manner
  • Meeting or exceeding government and industry safety standards as we work to be a model for the commercial construction industry.
