A largely self-taught artist, Eugene was exposed to the Freer Gallery at a young age. This inspired his interest in Asian artwork, and he held a one-man exhibition in Okayama, Japan in 1997. Beyond that, Eugene has traveled throughout the United States to a variety of art shows and his collection reflects that. Images from Maine to Florida add to the variety of his work. Of course, Eugene has always said that living in the Shenandoah Valley means that he is never short of inspiration. His ability to capture the landscapes and architecture of the area has made him a staple of the community.

Eugene moved with his family to Frederick County when he was a young boy. He is a graduate of both Lord Fairfax Community College and Shepherd College. Eugene would eventually build a home in Winchester with his wife Sarah and their two children, Kayla and Brennan. He is a lover of the outdoors choosing to spend his free time kayaking, hiking, gardening, and fishing. However, his most notable “hobby” is playing his nylon string guitar, which he often does at our First Friday celebrations (go to our video section to see him in action).

Here at the Eugene B. Smith Gallery & Custom Framing Studio we display and sell Eugene’s original watercolors, signed prints and notecards. We do all the framing here as well as custom framing of other art work.

The gallery is located across from the Old Courthouse on the Old Town walking mall in Winchester,VA. We offer a variety of items and prices from note cards and signed prints to originals watercolors. We have gifts for any member of your family, and for all occasions plus we provide Gift Certificates for that special person. An Art Lesson from Eugene is also a popular item for all ages.

Our Gallery can be accessed off of Indian Alley where we provide parking for your visit. The Braddock Street Parking Garage is located right behind us and is also available for convenient parking.
