About Us

Our Vision

The Multicultural Learning Center brings together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of academic, social, and intrapersonal success.

MLC Educational Program

The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC), is K-8 public charter school authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District since 2001. The vision of MLC is “to bring together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of, academic, social, and intrapersonal success.” MLC achieves this vision through the school-wide implementation of a dual immersion program (Spanish/English) and a focus on global and social-emotional competencies.

MLC Academic Learning Objectives

  1. Be literate—read, write, listen, and speak—in English and Spanish
  2. Achieve competency in mathematic and scientific skills and concepts and apply them to solve problems and present information.
  3. Construct new ideas and perspectives of the world in which we live through reading, listening, speaking, observing, inquiring, researching, and problem solving
  4.  Use the arts to solve problems, make connections across disciplines, and gain an understanding of self and an appreciation of others.


MLC Social Learning Objectives

  1. Demonstrate and uphold the MLC standards: respect, responsible, caring, safe, and tolerant
  2. Communicate effectively with peers and adults to convey feelings, thoughts, opinions, and ideas and to solve problems in the community
  3. Share and consider different perspectives and points of view of individuals or groups of people


MLC Intrapersonal Learning Objectives

  1. Develop self-awareness and self-management strategies
  2. Establish learning and behavior goals using a Growth Mindset
  3. Reflect on social and academic outcomes in order to celebrate success and learn from mistakes
