Position Summary: Senior level equipment operator position responsible for providing daily oversight of all aspects of work assignments and ensuring assigned tasks are completed each day. Must have the ability to understand the objective of each assignment and then make sound decisions to ensure tasks are completed safely and according to schedule. Must be able to operate various types of motorized heavy construction, snow removal and landscaping equipment, as well as perform manual work in connection with equipment operation and landscaping. Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of light and heavy-duty construction equipment. Education: High School or Vocational School Diploma or equivalency certificate required. Relevant advanced training from an accredited technical or trade school is preferred but not required. License/Certifications: Must possess a valid N.J. driver's license with a minimum Class A CDL endorsement. Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to comprehend, carry out and retain written and oral instructions. Must be able to operate various equipment including, but not limited to, bulldozers, sweepers, backhoes, roll off trucks and cranes, in a skilled and safe manner over rough, icy, and unstable surfaces. Must be able to check, clean, service and make minor and emergency repairs to equipment. Must be knowledgeable of the safety precautions that need to be exercised while operating equipment. Must be able to work in a team environment.Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health of oneself and others is maintained. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects. Must be able to work in all weather extremes. Working Conditions: Workers are subject to work in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work both indoors and outdoors depending on the nature of the job assignment.
