About Us
QMAG – Global supplier of magnesia
QMAG is a leading producer of premium-quality magnesia products. From one of the world’s largest deposits of cryptocrystalline magnesite in Queensland, Australia, we mine, process and deliver to global and domestic customers with a strong focus on sustainability.

Caustic calcined magnesia (CCM)
QMAG’s CCM is a chemically reactive material that is used in numerous industries such as agriculture (for animal feed and fertilisers), the iron and steel sector, and in pulp, paper and water-treatment plants for pollution control.

High-grade caustic calcined magnesia (HGCCM)
QMAG’s HGCCM is used to precipitate rare earths, nickel and cobalt, critical for the growing EV battery market, as well as uses in numerous other industrial and agricultural applications

Deadburned magnesia (DBM)
QMAG’s DBM is used as a raw material for refractory bricks used in iron and steel making furnaces.

Electrofused magnesia (EFM)
QMAG’s EFM is used as a raw material for refractory bricks used in iron and steel making furnaces and associated equipment where high wear resistance is required.
With high melting point secondary phases, these chemical properties combined with the high density and very large periclase crystal size, ensures that QMAG’s EFM products are considered amongst the best available in the world.
Industries
The high temperatures of steel, iron, cement, glass and ceramics production require thermal insulation in the form of refractory bricks using our DBM and EFM magnesia products.
The agricultural sector uses our magnesia as a vital animal feed supplement and fertilizer to maintain plant and animal health.
We support the path to net zero carbon emissions by supplying our magnesia to precipitate nickel and cobalt used in EV batteries. Our magnesia is also used in numerous industrial applications such as waste water treatment and the pulp and paper industry.
