The primary function of the Children's Ministries Director is to provide care and age appropriate instruction for infants through fifth grade at Atlee Church. It is the role of this director to ensure an environment of excellence in all children's ministry programs. The director also needs to make the parents feel safe about leaving their children in order to attend our adult services. The role of this director is to provide a place where children will want to come so they will learn, grow and develop in their faith. In order to achieve this goal, this director must have vision, an eye for excellence, people skills, the ability to teach, lead, encourage and motivate people. This job willManage and Oversee Elementary and Preschool ministries of Atlee Church. Here are some of the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Provide programming that is consistent with the Vision, Core Values, and Seven Step Strategy of the church.
- Oversee the following programs: Atlee Kids, MegaCamp (VBS), Parent Child Dedication, kids baptisms, and any other program that helps kids grow in their faith.
- Meet with children who desire baptism. Be comfortable baptizing children and/or adults as needed or requested.
- Coordinate recruitment, enlistment, and training for volunteers and small group leaders.
- Schedule volunteers for Sunday morning and all events involving kids.
- Manage budget for the Children's Ministry.
- Implement the lessons for the Children's Ministry.
- Ensure excellence in programming for the Children's Ministry.
- Continually evaluate the quality of programming being provided (creativity, material, content, leaders, space, equipment, etc.) Oversee the purchase of all necessary items/materials for each program.
- Provide short-term and long-range planning that will develop structure and a system that will allow for future growth.
- Provide ongoing communication, teaching, training, safety procedures, and assistance for all volunteers.
- Participate in ongoing personal development such as podcasts, online webinars, seminars and conferences.
- Maintain consistent and regular communication with parents as well as provide the tools they need for spiritual leadership for their families.
- Advocate for the safety of children in all aspects of the ministry.
- Working closely with the Production and Social Media Director for posting, promoting and sharing information regarding children's ministry.
- Assure safe sanctuary policies and procedures are in place to keep all children and the adults who work with them safe.
- Monitor the physical environment of the children's area for safety.
- Maintain updated information of all children in ministry (and visitors) including but not limited to allergies, contact information, and special needs.
- Create and maintain a children's ministry calendar of all events and activities.
- Provide events that are engaging to kids and families in our community and church.
