Job Summary
Join NetApp's innovative Security Engineering development organization as a Lead Systems Software Engineer in our Cryptography team, where you'll be at the forefront of developing and enhancing cryptographic modules for the ONTAP operating system. Your expertise will drive the implementation of cutting-edge post-quantum computing solutions, ensuring our systems meet the highest NIST standards. Engage in rigorous research and analysis of emerging cryptographic algorithms while participating in the certification and validation processes for our modules. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex security challenges and optimize performance, all while contributing to the evolution of secure technologies in a rapidly advancing digital landscape.
Job Requirements
- Excellent coding skills in C / Assembly (Intel and ARM64) required, Python/C++ is a plus
- A strong understanding and experience with concepts related to cryptography, cryptographic algorithms, applied mathematics, computer architecture, data structures and programming practices
- System/Kernel programming, experience with At-Rest encryption / filesystems or encryption in-transit / Networking or file/cloud security protocols is a must
- Experience with Post-Quantum Computing and AI/ML frameworks is a Plus
- Knowledge of software development tools like compilers, debugging tools (gdb, dtrace, packet tracer), Linux development environment (shell programming, awk, sed, make) is highly desirable
- Willing to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department and company goals
- Excellent skills in problem solving, written and verbal communication, excellent organization skills, and highly self-motivated
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., FIPS, NIST)
- Participate in all phases of product development cycle: from product definition and design, through implementation, debugging, testing and early customer support
- Resourceful in applying creative ideas to problem solving
- Lead Critical and/or high-visibility customer support engagements
Education
- Requires a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience in Cryptography / Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field
- Hold a current or active US security clearance OR be able to obtain security clearance.
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 161,100 - 226,490 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
