At St. Thomas More Preschool, our goal is to offer our students a positive and enjoyable experience that will allow them to grow intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually. Our school gives special attention to the developmental stages, skills and needs of each child while encouraging and nurturing his or her God-given abilities. The program has been carefully developed for the enrichment of the whole child and is fully licensed by the State of Texas.
The 18 month old classroom teacher will manage the classroom for this age group for the St. Thomas More Preschool. Please see specific responsibilities below.
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Thomas More Catholic Church - Austin, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. Thomas More Catholic Church - Austin, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Job Responsibilities:
Plan, supervise and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
Adjust the daily operating program to the needs of the individual children with concern for their interest, special talents and individual style and pace of learning.
Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom.
Plan and prepare the learning environment, set up interest centers, prepare needed material and supplies.
Assume equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities with class assistant.
Attend monthly staff meetings and age level meetings.
Participate in recommended training programs, course and other aspects of profession grown (24 hours of continuing education)
Plan and implement methods of establishing a positive liaison with the parents of the students.
Assist in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children.
Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including playground and cafeteria.
Lifting children, changing diapers.
