The Director of Transportation Services is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of Element Care participants both to and from appointments. This individual will supervise all aspects of the Department of Transportation Services, oversee a comprehensive program to recruit and retain qualified van drivers, and ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws, policies, regulations, and guidelines as they impact participant transportation. The incumbent will ensure participant transportation provides consistent service of reliable pick-up and drop off times. This position is full time M-F 8am to 4pm.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Builds transportation infrastructure utilizing transportation software.
- Proposes strategic plans to improve transportation operations.
- Plans, organizes, and operates the Department's programs in accordance with Element Care policies, Massachusetts regulations, and other relevant State and Federal laws.
- Ensures participant transportation program meet all requirements of transporting staff to/from Centers and medical appointments.
- Maintains, implements, and enforces safety standards and protocols in conformance with relevant State and Federal laws and regulations and insurance company requirements.
- Ensures timely reporting of required information.
- Serves as expert advisor on transportation-related policies and decisions.
- During emergencies, may be called upon to plan and coordinate during off-hours, including weekends, holidays, and snow days, including possible backup for route coverage.
- Oversees the recruitment, training, development, payroll and motivation of staff. Initiates and communicates a variety of personnel actions including employment, termination, performance reviews, salary reviews, time off approval and disciplinary actions.
- Position may include duties that require PPE (personal protective equipment) including wearing a face mask where a seal is critical. Incumbent may be required to not have facial hair that interferes with a tight seal of the respirator.
- Performs other duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Valid driver's license in state of residence.
- Bachelor's degree: master's degree preferred. Relevant experience in excess of requirements will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Five (5) or more years of experience building a transportation infrastructure.
- Exceptional transportation software knowledge.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures for efficient and safe transportation along with budgeting, record keeping and purchasing.
- Able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Exceptional leadership skills w/ability to display extensive knowledge of transportation management systems
- Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and strong knowledge of analytics with ability to create comprehensive reporting
- Proven ability to set and achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
- Current CPR qualified or can complete CPR certification
- Covid vaccine required.
