A Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for evaluating project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and developing competitive bids for commercial roofing projects. This role requires expertise in roofing materials, labor costs, and industry standards to ensure accurate and profitable project estimates.
Key Responsibilities - Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate roofing estimates.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope, measurements, and potential challenges.
- Determine material, labor, and equipment costs for commercial roofing projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to develop competitive bids.
- Prepare detailed and professional proposals for clients.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential project risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of roofing products, industry regulations, and local building codes.
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to gather pricing and project details.
- Utilize estimating software to generate cost breakdowns and proposals.
- Assist in contract negotiations and project planning.
Qualifications & Skills - Proven experience as a roofing estimator, preferably in commercial projects.
- Strong knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and installation techniques.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost assessments.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Understanding of local and national building codes and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Education & Experience - High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial roofing estimation or a similar role.
- Familiarity with construction bidding platforms and roofing industry standards.
Work Environment - Office setting with occasional field visits to project sites.
- Interaction with contractors, clients, and vendors.
- Use of computers, estimating software, and measurement tools.
