We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Glass and Glazing Estimator to join our dynamic team.
Position Summary: The Glass and Glazing Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for glass and glazing projects. This role requires expertise in analyzing project specifications, collaborating with team members, and ensuring bids are accurate, competitive, and align with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and architectural drawings to prepare accurate estimates.
- Calculate material, labor, and installation costs for glass and glazing systems, including curtain walls, storefronts, windows, and custom glass applications.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and suppliers to ensure accurate cost assessments.
- Request and evaluate vendor quotes for materials and subcontractor services.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to address them in the bid process.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of pricing and cost information.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to clients, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
- Provide value-engineering options to meet project requirements and budget constraints.
- Monitor and update project estimates based on change orders or revised specifications.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in glass and glazing estimating or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of glass and glazing systems, including curtain walls, storefronts, windows, and custom glass applications.
- Software Skills: Proficient in estimating software, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with glass-specific software is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, vendors, and clients.
- Organization: Strong time management and multitasking abilities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Industry Network: Familiarity with regional suppliers and subcontractors in the glass and glazing industry is a plus.
