Job Description, Lab Chemist I Pay Rate: $21/hr $.75 shift premium. $2 increase at 6 months upon conversion Hours : M-Th 4:30pm-3:00am. Training will be a split shift 12p-10:30pm for 3-4 weeks depending on the individual, then they move to night shift. 6 month contract-to-hire Qualification Requirements: A BS/BA degree in Chemistry or other related science field or an Associates degree in Chemistry or other related science field plus laboratory experience. Knowledge of modern quality principles & modern industrial quality practices preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills. Must possess typing, filing and basic PC skills; Windows and Microsoft Office experience a plus. Authority: Authority to stop product shipment pending final disposition by Quality Manager. May halt or approve production, based on Quality specifications, policies, and procedures. Ability to reject or except raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods. May initiate preventive actions & recommend solutions. May halt any unsafe activity. Job Duties, Functions, Responsibilities: Must perform routine jobs associated with the testing and approving of chemical and blends. Incoming, intermediate and final chemical inspection of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods. Inspection of USP containers and tankers, when applicable. Gauging, sampling, and documentation of incoming ethanol shipments, when applicable. Documentation of test results, status and chemical nonconformances. Maintenance of quality records. Verification of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods versus established specifications. Generation of certificates of analysis. USP testing, documentation, routine monograph testing, when applicable. 6. Other Duties: Keep work areas clean and neat. Follow all safety policies. Responsibilities involving food safety, when required.
