Our challenge: As a Big Data Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data processing systems using Apache Spark and Scala. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver robust solutions that facilitate data analysis and reporting. Additional Information The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within “Jersey City, NJ” is 130-140 K /year & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities: Develop and maintain large-scale data processing applications using Apache Spark and Scala. Design and implement data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyze data from various sources. Collaborate with data architects and data engineers to ensure optimal data storage and retrieval strategies. Optimize Spark jobs for performance and cost efficiency. Conduct data profiling and validation to ensure data quality and integrity. Work with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to deploy and manage big data solutions. Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices for software development. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data processing and performance. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in big data and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Requirements: You are: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience as a Big Data Developer or similar role, with a strong focus on Spark and Scala. Proficiency in Apache Spark and its ecosystem (e.g., Spark SQL, Spark Streaming). Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts. Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB). Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data tools (e.g., Hive, Pig). Strong programming skills in Scala and Java; Python knowledge is a plus. Good understanding of data governance and data security best practices. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively. It would be great if you also had: Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools. Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
