About the Company Japanese Asset management company is seeking a seasoned, entrepreneurial professional to spearhead the startup of a new credit investment team in New York. Managing $5 billion in fixed-income portfolios, this is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in building a high-performing team from the ground up. As Vice President, Sr. Credit Analyst, you will lead the development of innovative credit investment strategies, provide expert insights, and help establish the foundation for the team’s long-term success. Frequent communication with the headquarters in Tokyo will be required to ensure global alignment and effective collaboration. About the Role Drive the establishment of a new credit investment team, contributing to strategy, structure, and operational foundations. Lead and execute comprehensive credit research and analysis across diverse sectors, delivering actionable recommendations to support investment objectives. Design and implement robust credit assessment frameworks to evaluate financial statements, creditworthiness, and value drivers of potential investments. Develop and present clear, concise, and data-driven credit opinions to senior stakeholders, portfolio managers, and investment committees. Act as a mentor and leader for the newly formed team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Collaborate closely with portfolio managers to identify, evaluate, and capitalize on high-value investment opportunities. Perform advanced asset valuation, relative value analysis, and in-depth market research to enhance portfolio performance. Monitor macroeconomic trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to proactively adapt investment strategies. Maintain regular communication with the Tokyo headquarters to align investment strategies and provide updates on portfolio performance, research insights, and team progress. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA and/or CFA designation strongly preferred. 7 years of experience in credit analysis, fixed-income investing, or related fields, with a proven track record of success in both buy-side and sell-side environments. Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and lead a new team, design processes, and implement strategies. Expertise in financial modeling, risk assessment, and credit evaluation methodologies. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel, as well as Bloomberg and other financial research platforms. Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities with a results-driven approach. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuasively present ideas to senior stakeholders. Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and managing high-performing teams. Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a global organization. Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across different time zones and cultures.
