Technical Writer and Editor We are currently looking for a full-time expert technical writer and editor with proven experience developing technical materials. This position requires experience working with multiple style guides, including AP and GPO, and proficiency in both the original drafting and substantive editing of technical articles, briefs, reports, flyers, and other materials of various lengths. The successful candidate will be able to tailor content for both technical and non-technical audiences while also ensuring proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting of sources and references, and consistency of style and document format. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and attention to detail are essential for this role. Responsibilities : · Copywrite original technical briefs, summary reports, industry articles, newsletters, and other publications as assigned · Collaborate with SMEs in the drafting of publications · Perform heavy copyedits to supplied manuscripts · Fact-checking and cross-referencing sources and data, as appropriate · Ensure documents conform to the current version of the style guides (including style for references and sources) · Ensure version control · Confirm image-use permissions and properly cite copyright attributions · Ensure all electronic documents meet Section 508 standards Minimum requirements: · At least 5 years of technical writing experience, with at least 3 years of the 5 years including technical editing experience · Experience editing scientific or engineering materials · Basic understanding of transportation research is preferred but not required · Proficiency in using advanced editing and formatting tools in Microsoft Word · Exceptional verbal communication skills for interviewing SMEs and collaborating with clients · Excellent attention to detail and an ability to excel in a deadline-driven environment · Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required (significant years of experience may be substituted) Benefits: We offer competitive pay in addition to: · Paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance premiums · Matching 401K plan · Vacation, sick leave and paid holidays · Access to nearly 20,000 free online books and training courses To Apply: Provide a cover letter and résumé that speaks to the requirements and includes dates of employment and relevant experience.
