Employer: Virtual single-family office based out of New York investing in public equities, alternatives, real estate and fixed income, and providing a range of services to an extended family. The family office was created after a liquidity event. The two brothers managed a successful business for decades, after which the family office was established. The family consists of 3 patriarchs/matriarch, 10 next generation adults (including married-ins) and their 9 children, ranging from toddlers to college age. Qualifications: Ideal candidate has strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills who enjoys reading and possess a high level of intellectual curiosity and works collaboratively with internal and external parties. Candidate must be systems literate and have ability to extract/manipulate data. Ability to work in a team environment that is virtual. Seeks opportunity, propose solutions, extremely hands on, and also effective independently. Responsibilities (included but not limited to): • Investment Strategy & Research (current and future) o Research Keeping up to date with the macroeconomics, financial markets, economy and news and update family office executives and family members accordingly Research investments held by the office, including underlying investments of any external managers Proactively generate new ideas and present to team for potential investment o Sourcing and due diligence for direct investments (public and private) Can include individual securities, ETFs, direct private deals, fund investments, real estate o Maintenance of an investment policy statement (IPS) Working in tandem with family board’s desired investing goals and risk tolerance Development, implementation, and rebalancing of portfolio asset allocation • Reporting & Analytics o Aggregation and reporting of investment portfolio Develop performance reports of investments on a regular basis as directed by the board Benchmark performance against various indexes and company investment strategy Responsible for risk management and reporting together with CFO • Investment Management & Administration o Investment strategy execution (in-house or outsourced) Assist in manager or advisor selection Maintain and develop relationships with external Investment Managers, including regular meetings Foster relationships and liaison with: Investor Relations, Research Providers, Family members Oversee Investment Advisor on assets managed by RIA o Investment admin Complete documentation for new investments as well as ongoing requirements Attend investment conference and meetings Maintain reporting calendar of all portfolio holdings Coordinate with CFO on implications for investments on cash flow and taxes for different entity types (foundation, family partnership, individual holdings, trusts, etc) Diligence/researching/modeling real estate investments • Special Projects Manage & assist special projects as needed Roll up sleeves to do work across the task vertical (from investment administration/analysis, to execution and oversight) Tax loss harvesting strategies • Family & Office Support Reviews and suggestions for investments held personally by next gen family members Regular meetings with family office board, and individual family members on investments - review holdings, provide ratings and rationales Provide next gen with investment education directly and through third parties Education, Experience and Skill Requirements: • Minimum of 5 years of investment-oriented experiences with family offices or the financial services industry (PE, endowments, private banking, etc.) serving family offices • Statistical analysis abilities required • Knowledge in equities management and well versed in other asset classes (fixed income, private equity, venture capital and real estate) • Direct interface with portfolio managers • Able to work independently, take ownership of tasks and follow through w/ limited oversight • Must enjoy working on a small team, be a consummate team-player with excellent attention to detail and be able to clearly articulate and defend new ideas Location: • Occasional onsite meetings in NYC and Long Island • Preferred to be physically in the Greater NYC Area • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite & Bloomberg • Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting, finance, business or related field and/or with MBA and/or CFA preferred (not required) Salary: Salary based on experience with competitive benefits package.
