Job Title: GIS Analyst Duration: 1 Year (Extension Likely) Work Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid Schedule: Onsite 2 Days/Week, typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to support and enhance the development, maintenance, and utilization of geographic information systems (GIS) for various mapping and spatial data analysis tasks. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, web services, and geospatial data creation, with a strong focus on accuracy, analysis, and user support. This role involves conducting spatial analyses, producing maps and reports, and supporting internal users in leveraging GIS technologies. Key Responsibilities: GIS Development and Analysis: Write programs and develop user interfaces, menus, and macro-level commands to meet user needs. Perform complex spatial analyses and produce reports according to customer specifications. Assist in the development and maintenance of geospatial basemaps, including creating tile caches and conducting imagery analysis. Software and Tools Expertise: Required Experience: ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and Portal. ArcPro. Web services. Desirable Skills: Experience Builder. Dashboard creation. FME or Data Interoperability extension. Spatial Analyst and Esri Enterprise (SDE via Catalog) databases. Data and Map Management: Conduct GIS activities, producing maps, spatial databases, and thematic data (e.g., wetlands, road centerlines, cadastre, and historic sites). Digitize and maintain spatial databases, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with approved metadata standards. Create, adjust, correct, and convert base maps and thematic data for distribution in digital, paper, and web (AGOL) formats. Update and maintain metadata for new and existing open data items. Data Quality Evaluation: Evaluate and validate data quality from external sources using Esri and other tools. User Support and Collaboration: Act as a consultant to internal customers, offering guidance on spatial database use, development, and quality assessment. Provide user support and training for EGLE staff as needed. Qualifications: Minimum Experience: 2 years in GIS, cartography, CADD, or a related field. Software Proficiency: ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and Portal. ArcPro and web services (required). Experience Builder and Dashboard creation (preferred). FME or Data Interoperability extension (a plus). Spatial Analyst and Esri Enterprise (SDE via Catalog) databases (a plus). Additional Skills: Ability to create basemaps, perform imagery analysis, and maintain metadata. Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies for spatial data.
