The Director of Data Engineering will report to the VP of Data Technology. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large-scale platform and application development, including data ingestion, processing, and serving, as well as expertise in various data architectures such as data warehouses, data lakes, data lakehouses, and data meshes. They should possess a strong background in building complex data pipelines, exceptional engineering and technical skills, proven success in leading and growing productive global teams, excellent project management and communication abilities, and a drive to deliver results in a fast-paced environment This role will sit in Boston or NH. The base salary for this role is between $185,000 to $240,000 per year plus annual bonus and stock Key Responsibilities: Lead the development of data engineering platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and flexibility. Oversee data services architecture and champion innovative, effective technical solutions. Collaborate with business leaders to align technical solutions with organizational data needs and goals. Build and mentor a global engineering team, fostering high productivity and timely delivery of initiatives. Ensure seamless integration of data platforms with business systems, partnering with engineering, data, and AI teams. Manage roadmaps, project plans, and commitments, while providing clear visibility into progress and performance. Drive technical excellence through guidance, training, and best practices. Promote continuous learning, innovation, and measurable quality improvements. Partner with security and SRE teams to enhance system security, reliability, and compliance with SLOs. Experience you’ll bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; A higher degree in a related field is a plus. 5 years of experience in a leadership role, managing and scaling engineering teams. Extensive experience in designing solutions on High trust/PCI-compliant cloud data platform Deep knowledge and rich experience in data ingestions, including streaming technology and systems. Proficiency with data platform architecture, design, data dictionaries, multi-dimensional models, objects, star and snowflake schemas as well as structures for data lakes, data science, and data warehouses Extensive experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Strong expertise in designing and building scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and analytics solutions using AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda), ETL tools [ e.g., Qlik, Fivetran, Informatica IICS], and Snowflake. Experience in migrating data from existing warehouses (Oracle, SQL Server) to cloud data platform Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
