Company Overview: MD Hyperbaric-Pittsburgh , a leading provider of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), is seeking a dedicated and skilled Hyperbaric Technician to join our team. Located in Wexford, a northern suburb of Pittsburgh, MD Hyperbaric-Pittsburgh offers medical-grade HBOT services for brain/mental health, athletic recovery, medical healing, chronic inflammatory conditions, post-injury and surgery recovery, anti-aging and general wellness. Our HBOT center, the first of its kind in the area, opened in October 2024 and is conveniently situated on the medical campus of the Connected Health Building, providing a safe and private treatment suite for patients of all ages. Role Description/Position Overview: We are recruiting for additional full-time and part-time Hyperbaric Technicians due to growth. We continue to add chambers and expand our hours to accommodate patient demand. Our immediate need is for an on-site Hyperbaric Technician to cover evening and weekend hours. The Hyperbaric Tech is responsible for operating and monitoring hyperbaric chambers, assisting patients during therapy sessions, maintaining equipment, and ensuring sanitary and safety protocols are followed. Hours include evenings (approx. 4/5pm-8pm) and weekends (Saturdays approx. 8am-1pm). Our Hyperbaric Technician will be directly involved in patient care and patient education. We will provide in-depth training to operate the hyperbaric chambers and related equipment. Techs also assist with inventory management, managing patient flow, overseeing prescribed treatment protocols, and performing other relevant office duties. We welcome individuals with healthcare experience who are looking for a flexible position—such as x-ray technologists, medical assistants, athletic trainers, nurses, EMTs, personal trainers, PT/rehab aides, or medical customer service representatives—as they are all excellent candidates for the Technician role. Key Responsibilities: Patient Intake- · Conduct initial intake of patients, review medical history and health goals, and preparing patients for their HBOT session. · Ensure all necessary paperwork and consents are completed prior to the session. · Highlight questions/concerns and direct to Manager or Medical Director when indicated. Safety and Education- · Review safety protocols and educational materials with patients, ensuring they understand the treatment and address any questions or concerns. Clean and sanitize chamber and equipment. Patient Safety and Monitoring- · Continuously monitor patients during their HBOT sessions, ensuring comfort and safety at all times. Assist patients in/out of the chamber, moving oxygen cylinders and other physical requirements. · Respond promptly to any emergencies or patient needs during the session. Patient Checkout- · Provide patients with post-treatment instructions and answer any follow-up questions. Chamber Turnover- · Ensure efficient turnover of hyperbaric chambers between sessions, including cleaning, sanitizing and preparing the chamber for the next patient. Oxygen Supply Monitoring- · Monitor oxygen supplies, ensuring adequate levels for treatment sessions and document and manage usage. · Swap oxygen cylinders as needed, following all safety protocols. Center Cleanliness- · Maintain overall tidiness and cleanliness of the center, adhering to hygiene standards and protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Efficient Patient Flow- · Coordinate the scheduling and flow of patients and sessions to maximize efficiency and minimize wait times, ensuring a smooth operation of the center. Qualifications: Certification, training and/or experience as a Hyperbaric Technician is a plus. Hyperbaric medicine training will be provided by the employer, both with a hyperbaric certification program and on-the-job training for use of the equipment and a thorough understanding of hyperbaric medicine. · Previous experience with assisting patients in a medical or healthcare setting, preferably with direct patient care. Working knowledge with regenerative medicine or restorative health facility, a plus · Strong understanding of hyperbaric therapy principles and safety protocols, preferred · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and compassionately, required · Positive work attitude in an empathetic and encouraging work environment when interacting with patients · Knowledge of medical-grade hardshell hyperbaric chamber operations and safety procedures, a plus · Ability to monitor equipment and maintain proper functioning and efficient operations is required · Strong attention to detail and focus on patient care. Ability to show empathy and encouragement to patients undergoing HBOT treatments, required · Prior certification as a Hyperbaric Technician is a plus (obtaining employer-sponsored certification is required).
