Position Summary:
Special Olympics is creating, connecting, and empowering a global generation of Youth Leaders for inclusion: the Unified Generation. Special Olympics engages and prepares Youth Leaders around the globe to lead the inclusive movement through youth development work, which occurs at the global, regional, national and local levels.
This position will support with the global expansion of Special Olympics youth development initiatives across all 7 Special Olympics Regions. The Youth Development Fellow will assist in logistics and operations for key youth development events and initiatives with a focus on the Special Olympics Global Youth Leadership Council and Summit. In addition, this role will also have a focus of growing the audience and impact of the Scaling for Impact Youth Innovation Projects by creating resources and storytelling opportunities for the global audience. This role will also support in the development of digital resources and strategies for the global youth network. The fellow will report to the Manager of Global Youth Development
Responsibilities:
- Youth Development Communication
- Drive the story telling of Youth Leaders for Youth development initiatives
- Conduct regular communication with Special Olympics Regional staff on youth development updates and programming initiatives
- Collaborate with other SOIHQ regional staff to develop resources and content for the Scaling Innovation Grants project
- Youth Development Logistics
- Assist with the intake and review of applications for Youth Development Initiatives
- Support with the preparation and facilitations of monthly Global Youth Leadership Council meetings
- Support with uploading content to the Youth Development website
- Manage Youth Development general email accounts by intaking questions and providing responses
- Youth Development Resource Creation
- Create resources and maintain social media engagement of Youth Leaders on various platforms
- Drive the development of pre-communication materials for Youth Development events
- Create proposals for enhancing future resources/trainings shared
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Proven computer skills
- Experience with Special Olympics preferred
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a group
- Interpersonal/human relations skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate culturally and professionally diverse
- Strong attention to detail
