A Brief Overview Provides occupational therapy services to in and outpatients at Holy Name who have been referred for treatment by a physician. What you will do Reviews and notes pertinent information from patient's medical chart prior to beginning initial evaluation. Selects and administers appropriate occupational therapy evaluation procedures based on patient's diagnoses and physician's referral. Performs evaluations, develops treatment plans and provides direct patient care as the patient's condition indicates within their scope of practice and experience. Develops appropriate short term and long term goals with patient, family members and caregivers. Designs and constructs effective splints/orthotic devices when indicated. Instructs and educates patients, family, and caregivers as needed Administers modalities within their training and experience in a safe and appropriate manner. Instructs patients and caregivers in special techniques to compensate or overcome physical limitations based on ADL, visual/perceptual, orthotic and general functional needs. Provides and instructs patient and caregivers in appropriate and safe home exercise programs when necessary. Coordinates patient schedules with other caregivers. Assists in cleaning and organizing of the entire department. Records evaluation findings, progress and discharge summaries in medical chart in a timely fashion and reports similar information at team meetings, rounds, conferences and physicians. Consistently ensures that all patient charges are entered into the computer on a timely basis and prepares statistical sheets Supervises affiliating occupational therapy students when needed. Cares for occupational therapy equipment and maintains good order and safety within department. Presents in-service programs a minimum or 1 time per year Assists in departmental marketing and educates medical and other hospital staff about services provided by occupational therapy. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy and Registration required or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy and Registration required Experience Qualifications 1-3 years 1 year clinical experience required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Treats patients of all ages, all types of disabilities and multiple medical problems. Ability to apply appropriate body mechanics and use of assistive equipment in all patient transfers.
