The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) is a vital field-based role designed to provide essential reimbursement support and clinical education to patients and their caregivers. The PAC plays a key role in ensuring patient access to therapies by navigating the insurance, coverage, and reimbursement process while offering education on disease management and medication administration. This prominent position fosters collaboration with internal teams to ensure prompt and effective access to necessary treatments, endorsing safe and appropriate therapy initiation. Key Responsibilities Act as the main contact for patients and caregivers, addressing supplemental educational needs and queries related to therapy access and administration. Build and nurture relationships with patients and caregivers through face-to-face and virtual interactions. Evaluate each patient's unique requirements to formulate an actionable plan that bolsters patient and caregiver advocacy utilizing approved resources. Guide patients on their insurance plans and the steps needed to secure therapy, and provide medication administration training once coverage is confirmed. Inform patients about available affordability resources as necessary. Sustain longstanding relationships with patients and their healthcare teams by creating a tailored communication strategy. Collaborate with various internal stakeholders as needed. Engage with Patient Advocacy and participate in relevant patient education conferences. Collaborate with Patient Safety, Pharmacovigilance, and Quality Systems to report adverse events and product complaints. Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and industry standards. This role requires up to 50% travel, including overnight trips and some weekend commitments for advocacy events and congresses. Qualifications Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience in a direct patient support role, demonstrating the ability to convey access and reimbursement information at a consumer level. A clinical/allied health degree or licensure is preferred, along with at least 5 years of clinical experience in pediatrics, endocrinology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, or similar, plus 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Bilingual candidates are preferred. Experience in launching products for orphan or rare diseases, with a strong capacity to understand detailed product and disease information. Proven background in patient education and navigating reimbursement challenges. In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, FDA regulations, and OIG Compliance guidelines. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, communicating with cross-functional partners. Responsive and adaptable to the shifting needs of patients and their care teams. The annual salary for this position ranges from $185,000 - $195,000 . Actual salaries may differ based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and proficiency in the role.
