The Organization North Los Angeles County Regional Center "NLACRC" is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults. Supervision Receives general supervision from assigned Intake Supervisor. The Position and Job Summary (These are examples of the types of duties that may be performed. Additional duties may be added.) Gathers initial information related to request for eligibility and assist families with completion of intake application as needed. Conducts statewide searches for applicants to see if they have previously received services at any Regional Center. Creates initial inquiry or UCI and inputs and /or updates demographic information for applicants in Regional Center computer systems. Obtain and verify consents for services and records Requests and distributes medical, school, mental health and other applicable records. Requests and or verifies additional information as needed to assist in determining eligibility Answers phone calls and responds to emails and provides status updates to applicants, families, and other agencies (with consent). Requests case records from storage or other Regional Centers as needed. Documentation of all case activity in Regional Center computer systems. Participates in meetings and training sessions as requested. Prepares cases for supervisor review. Assigned Officer of the Day to assist callers or walk-ins with inquiries about applying for Lanterman Services. Review DCFS portal for referrals and accuracy. Performs administrative tasks as required. Employment Standards To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience Any combination equivalent to or likely to provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. An Associates degree in a human/social services is required and two years of related experience. Skills and Abilities Excellent customer service on the telephone and/or in person. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Accurate and rapid typing for input of data. Attention to detail. Ability to prioritize, respond to multiple tasks, requests, and processes and meet timelines. Review and present information obtained in a concise manner. Utilize ear/microphone piece and enter initial data in the computer. Essential Requirements Developmental or related disabilities, social service provision, basic community resources, use of word processing, internet, and data entry. Position requires bilingual: Spanish.
