Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible. Creative, thoughtful woman artist—retired from a career in politics focused on equality—seeks a backup/fill-in Companion Care Provider to spend time together and join her for activities a few times a week. Ideal for someone who understands dementia, values connection and independence, and brings warmth and humor to everyday interactions. Family prefers a FEMALE AND NON-SMOKING PROVIDER Location: Madison, WI Wage: $16.32 to $25.00 per hour -based on experience Schedule: • Part-time BACK UP/FILL IN - afternoon work (no later than 4 pm) • 2 to 5 hours per week possible. Coverage needed for provider illnesses and vacations. Key Responsibilities: • Provide warm, respectful, easy conversation and fun companionship both at home and in the community • Provide continuous attentive monitoring for needs, safety, and well-being, positively redirecting when needed, while promoting independence. • Enjoy conversations on topics of mutual interest or new topics. Explore her and your shared interests and pursue activities related to those. • Help her maintain her abilities and routines to support her current baseline • Bring a sense of calm, ease, enjoyment, and laughter to daily interactions • Use your vehicle to take the member on local community outings. The Ideal Candidate Will: • Have training and experience working with individuals living with dementia • Be observant, patient, and respectful of boundaries • Possess excellent communication skills and a good sense of humor • Be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs and routines • Understand how to foster autonomy while providing appropriate support This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys meaningful, one-on-one companion care and truly values making a difference in someone’s day. This woman enjoys: Art- especially painting, doing art- pen and paper, art history, women’s and feminist art, women’s history, history, politics, political movements, gardening, flowers, walks or sitting in nature, conversations with people who have diverse interests like her. Also enjoys younger kids, and animals – dogs, cats, horses. Tasks to be incorporated into all shifts: • Half hour walks around the block • Having the woman ready aloud to you. • Activities at home (doing art, sewing, etc.) and/or outings: library (weekly), going to art galleries, art shows, art museums, gardens and parks, music, Wingra park walking path and sitting by the lakeshore. Errands like going to get her hair cut. • Sometimes light cleaning.
