Chief Medical Officer The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a senior executive who shapes and drives the organization's clinical vision, ensuring that care is high quality, safe, equitable, and aligned with our mission and values. The CMO leads clinical strategy and standards, strengthens systemwide clinical performance, and ensures regulatory expectations are met with clarity and consistency. The role provides strategic oversight of utilization management and clinical standards to support appropriate, timely access to care, while applying an equity lens that helps identify and close gaps in member experience and outcomes. The CMO connects and mobilizes medical leadership across the delivery system, aligning clinical direction, quality initiatives, and innovation efforts. Externally, the CMO represents the organization with partners, regulators, and community stakeholders-building relationships, elevating our clinical voice, and championing the needs of our members and community. This is a hybrid position with the need to be in office 1-2x per week. Candidates must reside in Portland Metro/SW WA. Estimated Hiring Range: $343,440.00 - $419,760.00 Essential Responsibilities Functional Leadership Provide strategic clinical direction and leadership, fostering a culture of excellence in health outcomes for physical, behavioral, oral, and social health. Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies and risk management to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Ensure organizational adherence to local, state, and federal regulations related to clinical operations. Collaborate with other executives and departments to develop and execute Health Share's strategic goals and objectives. Recruit, mentor, and evaluate staff; oversee professional development. Lead initiatives to improve health services and establish best practices and clinical guidelines to achieve optimal and equitable health outcomes. Collaborate with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to establish short- and long-term goals for innovative clinical services and implement best practices to achieve health outcomes. Participate in leadership of organization-wide strategic planning. Utilizes data analytics to monitor clinical performance and outcomes, making informed decisions and recommendations that impact the organization's operations and strategic direction. Facilitate communication and collaboration among departments throughout the organization and CCO working towards improved health outcomes. Promote data-driven analysis, adoption of delivery system improvements, and evidence-based practices. Represent the organization in clinical advisory boards, professional associations, community events, and with external partners. Facilitate cross-sector learning collaboratives to promote latest clinical and medical advancements, industry trends, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and health outcomes. Employee Supervision Direct team(s) and establish team direction and goals in alignment with the organizational mission, vision, and values. Identify work and staffing models; recruits, hires, and oversees a team to meet work needs, using an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens. Identify department priorities; ensure employees have information and resources to meet job expectations. Lead the development, communication, and oversight of team and individual goals; ensure goals, expectations, and standards are clearly understood by staff. Manage, coach, motivate, and guide employees; promote employee development. Incorporate guidance from CareOregon equity tools into people leadership, planning, operations, evaluation, budgeting, resource allocation, and decision making. Ensure team adheres to department and organizational standards, policies, and procedures. Evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback to support success; recognize strong performance and address performance gaps and accountability (corrective action). Perform supervisory tasks in collaboration with Human Resources as needed.
