Details Acute care rural hospital setting with an LDRP unit consisting of 4 L&D beds and 7 postpartum beds Patient population includes mothers 35 weeks gestation in active labor and mom/baby postpartum couplets AWHONN staffing ratios followed: Labor 1:1-2, Postpartum 1:2-3 RNs are required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Oxytocin, LR, and Zofran (antepartum/labor) and Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Percocet, and Toradol (postpartum) Neonatal respiratory equipment in use: CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow; NICU is more than 1 hour away, requiring a high degree of independence EFM system used: OB Trace Vue Charting via MEDITECH Day/Night rotating shifts, 3×12-hour blocks, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM / 7:00 PM-7:00 AM Block scheduling in use; self-scheduling not mentioned Every third weekend required Holiday coverage required based on availability Floating required to Med/Surg and ED for 1:1 patient sitting responsibilities; travelers are first to float 13-week contract Requirements Active ND RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP - pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required A driver's license is required for consideration 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not be currently or have been within the past year directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity - candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Additional Information RNs circulate for the baby during C-sections; surgery team leads the procedure Charge nurse is present on each shift and carries a patient assignment Unit orientation consists of 3×12-hour shifts Scrubs are provided by the facility This is a rural hospital more than 1 hour from the nearest NICU with limited ancillary services - candidates who are team-oriented, independent, and strong communicators tend to thrive in this environment RTO requests must be submitted upfront and may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after the consideration process American Traveler Job ID P-679756.
