The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting for a/an Nursing Assistant 2 (CNA), to join our dedicated Nursing team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) at WVHUG provide direct and indirect patient care, following standards set by the American Nurses Association; gerontological nursing practice; federal, state and Veterans Administration regulations; and the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of this agency. Job duties include providing care per a written care plan to help meet the needs of WVHUG members, including care to help maintain the demented member at the highest functional level. CNAs work as an integral part of the health care team, under the direction of licensed nursing staff, with limited supervision by a Nursing Supervisor. Salary Information A sign-on bonus of $3000 for eligible new hires with no prior state service in the last five years, who stay with the facility in the position until completing probation. The bonus will be split, $1500 upon hire and $1500 after completing probation. Starting wage is $25.82 - $29.01 per hour based on full years of state service. Additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Positions that are at least 60% time are eligible for an attractive benefits package. This position is in pay schedule-range 06-11. For current State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. Job Details Hiring for: AM/1 st shift 60% FTE and 100% FTE (part-time and full-time) positions PM/2 nd shift 60% FTE and 100% FTE (part-time and full time) positions NOC/3rd shift 60% FTE and 100% FTE (part-time and full time) positions AM 1 st shift - 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PM 2nd shift - 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. NOC 3rd shift - 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Nursing Assistant 2 positions require the availability to work varying hours and/or overtime shifts as assigned. Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing. Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Qualifications The required qualification is: Certification or eligibility for certification as a Wisconsin Nurse Aide and eligibility to work in a federally-certified nursing home as a CNA.
