ABOUT US Heart of Gold Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering women transitioning from domestic violence and incarceration toward safety, stability, and economic independence. Since 2020, we’ve served over 1,039 women — providing clothing, shelter, mentorship, and resources to rebuild lives with dignity. Why Your Board Service Matters? Since 2020, we’ve served over 1,000 women transitioning from domestic violence and incarceration — providing shelter, mentorship and resources to rebuild with dignity. As a board member, you’ll directly help shape policies, outreach, and programs that impact real lives. What You Can Expect? Quarterly board meetings (≈ 1 hour) one committee (approx. 2–3 hrs/month). Flexible hybrid participation (in-person or virtual). No prior nonprofit board experience required — just your passion, skills or lived experience. Volunteer, professional, or lived-experience backgrounds all welcome (business, law, healthcare, education, community outreach, etc.). What We’re Looking For? Compassionate advocates for women’s empowerment and safety. Skills or interest in fundraising, outreach, community networking, program design, legal/finance/healthcare management — especially persons with lived or working experience related to the issues our shelter addresses.
