Position Summary: TheRegistered Nurse (RN) (Medical Triage) is responsible for providing safe,accurate, clinical triage and patient support for patients with allergic,immunologic and respiratory conditions via telephone and voicemail systems. This role is responsible for timelyassessment, appropriate escalation, and follow up care between patients andproviders. It includes assessment of patient symptoms, managing voicemails, andcoordinating care with different departments within AAAI. The RN serves as akey clinical resource for patients, providers, and staff. It also providessupport for clinical research and administrative projects as assigned. THIS IS A PART-TIME HYBRID POSITION Reports To: Medical Practice Administrator Principal Duties andResponsibilities Allergy& Immunology Clinical Triage 1. Conduct telephone-based clinical triage usingevidence-based protocols and clinical judgement. 2. Perform telephone triage for patients withallergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergy, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis,immunodeficiency, and medication reactions 3. Assess post-allergy injection reactions andprovide guidance per protocol 4. Identify urgent and emergent symptoms (e.g.,anaphylaxis, uncontrolled asthma) and escalate appropriately 5. Provide patient education on epinephrine use,avoidance strategies, and medication adherence 6. Communicate triage findings clearly tophysicians and advanced practice providers regarding urgent or complex patientissues. 7. Document all patient interactions accurately inthe EHR 8. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient safetystandards Voicemail& Message Management 1. Monitor and respond to patient voicemailsrelated to symptoms, injections, medications, and test results in a timely andprofessional manner. 2. Prioritize messages based on clinical urgency 3. Route administrative or non-clinical messagesappropriately 4. Ensure all voicemails are documented andresolved according to practice protocols. CareCoordination 1. Coordinate follow-up visits, allergy testing,biologic therapy appointments, and immunotherapy schedules determined by clinicprotocols. 2. Support prior authorization workflows byproviding clinical information as needed 3. Communicate care plans and instructions clearlyto patients and caregivers 4. Collaborate with clinical and administrativestaff to ensure continuity of care. 5. Perform other duties as assigned. Research& Quality Support 1. Assist with clinical research activities,including chart reviews and data collection 2. Support quality improvement initiatives andclinical audits related to allergy testing, immunotherapy safety, and biologicoutcomes 3. Participate in protocol development and updates(e.g., anaphylaxis response, immunotherapy reactions) and clinical workflowoptimization. 4. Conduct literature or guideline reviews (AAAAI,ACAAI) as assigned. Required Skills,Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrated written and oral communications skills including strong interpersonal and management skills. Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; of healthcare laws and regulations; of medical diagnoses and procedures; of accepted medical treatment patterns; and of utilization review and control measures. Experience with telephone triage or patient call management Excellent clinical assessment, decision-making and critical thinking skills. Strong skill in time management, organization, prioritization and attention to detail with accurate documentation. Professional phone presence and patient empathy with strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with EHR systems and telephone platforms. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the team. Ability to handle sensitive issues and resolve difficulties not routine in nature. Education • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN)license in the United States. • Currently unrestricted RN licensure in Arizona;graduate of an accredited 2 or 4 year institution. Experience • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience inoutpatient, ambulatory, or specialty care. • Preferred: prior experience in Allergy &Immunology practice. • Experience using standardized triage protocols. • Involvement in clinical research or qualityimprovement projects. Working Conditions Hybrid Position Part-time (3 days a week - 1 day in office & 2 days remote). Must be able to work the hours of AAAI only (Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm hours). No nights, weekends, or after-hours.
