APPs will be working within a team to provide comprehensive medical care to the most vulnerable and critically ill patient populations. APP will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, management, procedures/interventions, evolutionary care, and evaluations of the critically ill patient and will manage and participate in all aspects of patient care in collaboration with other APP and physician colleagues. Primary training will take place in the medical ICU with clinical rotations in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery, trauma and general surgery, gastroenterology, and nephrology, with additional training with our pharmacy, respiratory therapy, nutrition, and physical therapy teams. Why apply Hands on experience Quality mentorship Multidisciplinary collaboration Skill and knowledge development Employment opportunities Education and program overview Core Fellowship Curriculum developed with multidisciplinary collaboration between all ICU service lines Fellows will practice primarily in the medical ICU with 2-4 week rotations through our ICU specialty service lines to include cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery, trauma and acute care surgery, gastroenterology, nephrology, and vascular surgery Didactics: Fellows will meet weekly for designated classroom didactic learning, simulation labs and procedural training Professional development: Fellows will participate in journal club and attend grand rounds Procedural experience and proficiency includes, but is not limited to: intubation, central venous insertion, arterial line placement, chest tube placement and bronchoscopy Courses/certifications completed during the fellowship include: Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (Instructor course), The Difficult Airway Course, Emergency Neurological Life Support, Palliative Care Academy, and Critical Care Ultrasound Most didactic courses and clinical time will be in Tacoma, Washington, unless otherwise specified in the fellowship schedule Graduation requirements Completion of all clinical rotations as assigned during the 12 month training cycle Pass quarterly evaluations with a score of 3/5 or greater Pass post rotation exams with a score of 80% or greater Maintain attendance and professionalism throughout 12 month cycle Adherence to all policies and procedures of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Maintain accurate procedure logs Contractual work requirement post graduation (statement) All fellows will be contracted to return two years of service within our Virginia Mason Franciscan Health teams paid at regular staff Advanced Practice Provider salary, upon successful completion of the fellowship.
