The Recovery and Bridge Center's Sobering Services is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, you will provide essential nursing care under protocols and medical oversight by the Medical Director. Your role will support individuals in a non-medical sobering environment, ensuring their safety and well-being. Conduct initial visual intakes to assess appropriateness for our sobering services. Monitor vital signs and oversee safety measures for participants, including rehydration and basic wound care. Document participant status through SOAP notes. Collaborate with service navigators to maintain accurate client records and SOAP notes. Perform various assessments including CIWA for alcohol withdrawal, COWS for opiate dependence, GCS, and ASAM screenings. Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment within the Sobering Services Center. Establish connections with service providers to enhance referral processes. Educate participants on health conditions and facilitate access to medication assisted treatment (MAT) as needed. Coordinate with medical backup for care transitions and telepsychiatry. Secure necessary consents and follow up with referred participants. Engage in care coordination activities as required. Ensure a warm, safe space and maintain all equipment in good order. Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions to stay current with ethical, culturally competent, trauma-informed care practices. Adhere to all personnel policies and the employee handbook, including dress code and timely reporting. Perform other assigned duties as needed. Available Shifts: Monday - Friday, 10PM - 6:30AM. Requirements Graduated from an accredited RN program, with an active, unrestricted RN license in California, and current CPR/BLS certification. Prior experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and other complex needs. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to behavioral crises and infectious diseases. Proficiency in health assessments, including withdrawal screenings (CIWA, COWS) and ASAM evaluations. Strong documentation skills, particularly in the electronic health record, Welligent. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively. Experience in community-based clinics and/or emergency settings preferred. Maintains knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting. Knowledgeable about harm reduction, trauma-informed care, patient-centered care, and motivational interviewing. Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including the impoverished, unhoused, and those suffering from chronic substance use and/or mental health challenges. Exceptional interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, adaptability, and professionalism. Exudes a calm and competent manner, able to converse with medical professionals, lay persons, as well as persons or families and defuse crisis or high intensity situations. Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Proficient with EHR Systems (e.g., Electronic Health Records such as Welligent or SmartCare). Maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; effectively regulates emotions, especially under stress; remains open to others' ideas and tries new things. On-site position. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to pass all pre-employment screening, including references, education verification, a criminal background check with at least one year clear of probation or parole, a drug test, and a negative TB test.
