TITLE:Principal Software Engineer
LOCATION:Washington, D.C. (and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.)
DUTIES:Analyzes, designs, develops, and installs software solutions ensuring accessibility compliance. Provides technical leadership for operational and project related initiatives and daily technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to assess the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Designs, builds, and suggests architecture that will last beyond current initiative or product effort. Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions. Ensures that the design and application implementation meet security and Quality Assurance (QA) standards. Proactively recommends and provides ongoing maintenance of applications. Analyzes and monitors applications to ensure that the functionality and performance meets all product and service level requirements. Assists in the development of user guides and training documentation. Provides technical guidance or system process expertise. Coordinates preventative maintenance activities between vendors, IT, and the business, including the installation of service packs, patches, and hot fixes.
REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field followed by seven (7) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Principal Software Engineer or any occupation related to Software Development. Must also have five (5) years of experience: (1) Implementing accessibility testing and programming using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Section 508, and Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) Audit guidelines; (2) Developing using algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Aria-Attributes; (3) Developing frontend (Web) or backend (Server) and mobile applications on cloud platform services using Agile methodologies—including SCRUM and SAFE frameworks—, Waterfall, and V Model; (4) Implementing Software Test Life Cycle (STLC), Defect Tracking Life Cycle (DTLC) and Test Methodologies from project definition to post-deployment documentation; and (5) Utilizing assistive tools such as Jaws, NVDA, Chromevox, Voice-over, Talkback. All experience may be acquired concurrently. Remote work permitted in accordance with standard company policy. All positions require pre-employment background check verification and a pre-employment drug screen. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the U.S.
SALARY: $165,173 per year
