OverviewThis job contributes to REI success by helping to define and execute REI’s Store Operations training strategy. This job is
responsible for the development of training programs that enhance the employee and customer experience and support
REI’s core values. Program management tools and processes will be used to appropriately manage dependencies among
multiple projects and programs d. This role will monitor best practices and emerging trends in training and adult learning
and assess how new opportunities can be leveraged to improve the employee and customer experience and connect
people to REI. This position leads high-impact initiatives, and acts as a representative in cross-divisional forums.
Responsibilities and Qualifications- Oversees the management of a portfolio of training programs and projects that support divisional priorities and ensures work is aligned with REI’s strategy.
- Develops requirements for training programs and projects while continuously evaluating the needs of customers and employees.
- Identifies and provides recommendations for process and program improvements.
- Research trends, opportunities, threats, competitors and other factors that impact the training program and implements program improvements in partnership with the manager.
- Initiates, plans, and delivers medium to large cross-divisional, multi-year initiatives. Utilizes established project management methodology or where appropriate, partners with Project Manager(s) in leading/influencing project implementation.
- Ensures training program quality and success through management of action items, issues, and decisions, assessing risks, initiating change requests, identifying resource needs, meeting deadlines for deliverables, and financial planning.
- Works with cross-divisional leadership to identify and close critical program gaps and/or to enhance program benefits for store employees.
- Provides input and insight into budgeting process, ensuring hours are allocated in support of co-op priorities and programs such as key product launches, vendor partnerships, and enterprise initiatives.
- Manages the process to ensure hours are leveraged as allocated in partnership with the workforce planning team.
- Solicits and collects feedback from learners to validate recommendations for process and program improvements.
- Manages the progress of training programs and projects and regularly communicates the project status to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience managing medium to large cross-divisional, multi-year training projects and programs with a business and technology focus.
- 5+ years experience leading training program development and training strategy.
- 4-year degree in business, instructional design, training, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years coordinating project/program teams.
- Certification in program management, process improvement (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma), and/or project management (e.g. PMP) preferred
- Familiarity with training systems and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member in a training organization.
- Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
- Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions.
