About the Role:
We are seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the product management efforts of our Xenium in situ platform. This position will report to the VP of Spatial Platform and will be responsible for ensuring deep understanding of the customer and market landscape and leading the execution of product management activities, identifying the right target customer and market segment, the right product concept, fit, requirements, and eventual launch of the product. This role will require interfacing with R&D, quality, operations, sales and other cross-functional teams. They will own the platform strategy and focus areas around short and long term growth for the business. They will also be a lead in defining the product and pricing strategy of the platform. This role will require management of multiple product management stakeholders within the Xenium team that will carry out new product introductions, sustaining work, field issues, and continuous improvements and activities to drive revenue.
What you will be doing:
- Internal and external champion for the Xenium in situ portfolio
- Develops an integrated strategy and product roadmap that supports the Xenium Product Portfolio
- Defines and maintains the overall business plan and forecast for in situ, including sustaining projects to drive improvements
- Assesses market needs and gaps, opportunities and trends, competitive landscape, and technology landscape for the in situ platform
- Designs / implements effective market and forecast models with stakeholders with granularity at the regional, market, and segment level
- Defines the customer requirements based on these needs for product development teams
- Serves as primary customer advocate during product development; drives tradeoff decisions
- Ensures efficiencies within the team by balancing out priorities, skill sets, and escalating issues when required
- Interfaces with manufacturing operations, quality and planning on product issues to ensure products meet customer expectations
- Collaborates with Regional Marketing, Global Marketing and Business Development to drive development and launch product readiness
- Strong core team representative for product management on the Xenium platform team
- Player-coach in all aspects of the job
- Actively develops and evolve team and organization as business needs change
- Educates sales and regional marketing on the in situ product line
- Sets pricing strategy and sales promotions on a quarterly basis
- Sets and delivers against product profitability goals
Required Skills:
- 6+ years of experience in product management and/or marketing in the Life Sciences or Clinical field and a Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science field
- Experience in customer interactions in either a Sales, Business Development or Marketing function
- Experience creating financial models and business cases; strong Excel skills
- Experience conducting market research and developing detailed customer requirements
- Demonstrated ability to develop long-term product strategies and go-to-market plans
- Must have proficient written, communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences
- Experience working in cross-functional teams covering various internal organizations
- Ability to influence across the organization at all levels
- Exceptional time and project management skills and ability to prioritize competing requests
- Self-starter willing to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be willing to travel up to 30%
Preferred Skills:
- MBA preferred
- Experience in histology, imaging, and hardware product management is highly desired.
- Demonstrated experience in launching sequencing or imaged-based tools is highly desired
- PhD in life science field – specifically NGS and/or tissue analysis methods
- Strong technical knowledge of genomics, microscopy, in situ technologies, and/or next generation sequencing and molecular biology products
