Description
Chronicle Books is seeking an Associate Director of Trade Sales. As the Associate Director of Trade Sales, you will provide leadership within the Trade Sales channel, driving revenue, managing a team, and developing strategies to grow and sustain existing retail and wholesale customers while identifying new business opportunities. Your role will involve meeting and exceeding sales goals, collaborating with reps, and negotiating terms with key accounts such as BAM/AWBC, Ingram, and Baker & Taylor. You will also develop and implement channel sales strategies, manage business profitability by controlling expenses, and monitor sales trends to report to upper management.
In this role, you will plan and execute Seasonal Sales Conferences and webinars, evaluate and improve account managers' performance, and conduct annual business reviews with Commission Rep groups. You will develop sales tools and training to help the team achieve goals, negotiate terms with key accounts, and drive business reviews and sales calls. Additionally, you will work with internal distribution client teams to provide top-tier services, identify opportunities, and provide feedback on products.
Collaboration with Marketing, Publicity, and SME departments on programs and promotions, leading strategy for Winter and Children’s Institute, and developing and managing annual cooperative marketing budgets are key aspects of this position. You will also support DEI Sales Partnership Initiatives, grow sales of BIPOC creator titles, and ensure team engagement in company DEI goals. Hiring Salary Range : $94,000 - $112,800. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected annual salary for this position and will be determined by factors including but not limited to an applicant’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for our profit share plan and participates in a sales bonus plan.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of sales management experience in the gift or book industry, 3+ years of team management experience, and demonstrated success in managing and growing business. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Edelweiss, and Salesforce platforms is essential, along with a strong understanding of the market and key accounts. Employees at Chronicle Books follow a flexible hybrid schedule of working a minimum of 3 days per week and up to 4 days per week in our San Francisco office, depending on project and business needs.
