Job Summary
The Workforce Development Organizational Consultant role will be responsible for the strategic area on workforce development. The initial three-year goal of this work aims to: Research, design, develop and implement broad workforce development programs at UCSF.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Developing close partnerships with UCSF Managers/Directors to strategically identify and develop career pathways aimed at providing career advancement to existing UCSF staff.
- Collaborating with UCSF Managers/Directors, Staff, Community Based Organizations and other agencies, in the development of program services to best serve job seekers and UCSF workforce development programs.
- Partnering closely with community-based organizations, city and state government agencies and local academic institutions, to identify pools of job-ready candidates who can be considered immediately for vacant positions at UCSF.
- Fully developing and implementing career pathways through pilot programs throughout the organization, including marketing of programs and activities of workforce development programs.
- Promoting the programs by serving on task forces and committees within UCSF and the community, including Anchor Institute Subcommittee on Workforce Development.
- Developing and managing appropriate evaluation and reporting processes to determine program success, effectiveness and relevance.
- Establishing roles/responsibilities to help UCSF workforce development programs and career paths to be effective and successful.
- Overseeing the development of program budget, including proposals; monitoring expenses.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $164,400 - $253,300 (Annual Rate).

UCSF Learning & Organization Development Department oversees the creation and implementation of learning solutions for all UCSF teammates, managers and executives, as well some faculty who perform operational roles or impact operational processes. Our purpose is to lead talent development strategies which inspire professional excellence and attract, develop, and retain outstanding & diverse people, who together advance health worldwide.
The key services that our department provides to individual learners, departments and organization's executives are:
- Workforce Development
- Organization development, effectiveness and change management
- Learning Management System Administration
- E-Course development
- Staff Engagement Resources
- Staff and leadership development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and 10+ years of related experience; and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Demonstrates superior analytical, problem-solving, project and implementation skills.
- Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher and large research universities to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints.
- Have superior written, verbal and presentation skills for influencing and facilitating sustained change.
- Possesses superior consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to facilitate and influence people at all levels. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations.
- Ability to handle multiple constituencies, agendas, engagements, and tasks.
- Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment; ability to draw unbiased conclusions.
- Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision.
- Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead highly significant engagements from inception to conclusion.
- Incorporates excellent skills in change management programs on a regular basis.
- Highly-skilled in navigating organizational complexity.
- Expert knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions.

- Advanced degree preferred.
