Lead Machine Learning Engineer

We are currently partnered with a well-backed Seed-stage startup who are revolutionizing the landscape of language models (LLMs) through intelligence and optimization, enabling businesses and individuals to utilize LLMs that meet their explicit needs and parameters with a one of a kind and sophisticated model router.
The business has raised just shy of $9M from prestigious investors and has garnered significant interest from large enterprise customers with limited outbound sales efforts.
They are seeking a Lead ML Engineer to lead a small team of ML Engineers and Researchers, put AI models into production and run the company's ML experiments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with founders to develop model-routing technology and bring it into production
- Lead, grow and develop a team of ML engineers
- Innovate new techniques, tools, and architectures to enhance the performance, latency, throughput, and efficiency of deployed models.
- Set up the core infrastructure and best practices for things like model hosting and training
Key skills/exp required
- PhD or Master's from a prestigious institution
- 7+ Years' ML Experience and experience at top-tier organizations (Meta, Google, Uber, Anthropic or similar)
- Strong experience with LLMs & NLP - experience building end-to-end LLM products, strong knowledge of pretraining, post-training and finetuning.
- Have a good understanding of the literature on model evaluation and have trained reward models from human or AI feedback or worked on LLM-as-judges.
- Have at least 7 years of professional software engineering experience (particularly in an ML Engineering role) or equivalent.
- Experience working in previous Data Science roles is a plus
