The Role
The Global Sales Director, Americas for the DC, MD, VA Regions is a team player who can work well both independently and as a part of a larger dynamic team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies that will maximize sales and profitability focusing on association and citywide markets.
Location
Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia (DC, MD, VA) - Candidate must be based in this region.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement sales strategies that drive revenue growth for the company's association and citywide accounts in the hospitality industry
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within the association market
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the association market
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful execution of sales strategies
- Serve as a key liaison between the corporate office and local hotel leaders.
- Foster relationships with city officials, convention bureaus, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activity, and market intelligence
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with association clients
- Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by working closely with hotel teams
- Monitor and manage the sales pipeline, forecast sales results, and report on sales performance
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows
Qualifications
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 7 years of sales experience in the hotel industry, preferably with a focus on associations
- Strong understanding of the DC, MD, and VA association/citywide markets
- Proven track record in sales, consistently exceeding targets
- Strong knowledge of contract processes
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
Experience Preferred:
- 4-year college degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Solid written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
- Proficient in Lanyon, CVENT & Envision (or similar CRM tool)
- Experience with Cognos, Tableau, Reserve, and Oracle
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work remotely and independently
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced and very demanding market
- Must have the ability to get creative with customer engagement opportunities
- Must be very strategic when working with accounts
- Flexibility to travel as needed
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
