- Work Schedule: Full-time, usually Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, this position will require the applicant to be available to work in a rotational on-call, after-hours capacity and to work weekends and holidays whenever necessary to support the 24/7 operation of the Police Department. Hybrid telecommuting work schedule available in line with CCSF policy.
Under general supervision, the Senior IS Cloud Engineer assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing large complex infrastructure setups consisting of a combination that may include servers, storage, databases, data protection, and networks that integrate these systems together in SFPD’s Hybrid Cloud environment.
- Leads the day-to-day operational support for server, storage, or network infrastructures.
- Supports the team with migration of on-premise workloads to Cloud (AWS, OCI, Azure), configure cloud infrastructure components, and build Database environments.
- Builds, patches, tests (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA), and deploys complex systems and platforms meeting clients’ needs and specifications.
- Manages the Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases, and Postgres databases, including installing relational database software, provisioning users' access to the databases, securing data, tuning database performance, and disaster recovery.
- Leads in planning and implementing changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance.
- Performs complex storage and server data backup, data migration, and disaster recovery operations.
- Performs complex software and operating system (Windows and Linux) upgrades and track system licensing.
- Configures security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals.
- Provides technical support (help desk) to users by troubleshooting problems related to network or platform performance.
- Documents complex procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to systems/networks software and hardware.
- Leads the configuration and maintenance of office and/or production software, adjunct support and/or utility software, i.e. Virus malware protection, office application suites, and/or application software.
- Works with Business Applications, vendors, consultants, contractors, and IT personnel from other City Bureaus, Divisions, and Departments.
- Provides technical guidance and assistance to other IS Engineers and IS Administrators.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
How to qualify
1. Education: An associate degree in computer science or a closely-related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units (i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field)
AND
2. Experience: Three (3) years of full-time experience (equivalent to 2000 hours) analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining the components of an enterprise network.
- Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester/15 quarter units in computer science or a closely-related field.
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
