Overall purpose, duties and responsibilities of the role:
The Corporate Strategy Head is responsible for directing and steering the creation of corporate strategies and supportingstrategic initiatives of East West Ageas and driving its results by interacting with senior leaders, project sponsors, owners and concerned business units. This person also ensures that high-level initiatives are translated into a project plan with milestones and supporting actions to ensure alignment with business goals and incremental progress that lead to desired business outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the company's corporate strategy by setting the strategic planning framework and facilitating strategic / tactical planning sessions based on the general directions set by the CEO and EWA MCO
- Work closely with department heads to identify growth opportunities which can serve as input to EWA MCO when deciding planned and emergent strategic directions
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and industry best practices which may involve desk research, local networking or partnering with Ageas strategy counterparts
- Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leaders on key business decisions
- Oversee strategy effectiveness by establishing governance and cadence of strategy review at MCO and department level
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of strategic initiatives
- Monitor the implementation of strategic initiatives based on agreed timeline and budget and identifying potential risks and recommending solutions as needed
- Prepare and present reports and presentations to senior leadership, providing insights and updates on the company's strategic initiatives
- Provide guidance to the Process Improvement Managers to prioritize process documentation, optimization and automation efforts to directly support strategic decisions
- Work with Marketing and Internal Communication to direct the approachthat will be applied in communicating the identified strategies appropriate to the target audience (employees, managers, board and other stakeholders)
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- University degree in Business or a related field
- 5-10 years work experience in corporate strategy and/or business development
- Experience in conducting strategic and tactical planning sessions involving senior leaders
- Familiarity with strategic management and project management framework and tools
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to elicit cooperation from senior management and other departments
