JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Overview
The executive head of the nursing service, responsible to the administration for the effective management, integration, and direction of all activities concerned with nursing care and services, and support of the medical care plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Carries full administrative responsibility and authority for the entire nursing service of the institution.
- Coordinate all activities of the nursing service department with other services.
- Organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities of the nursing service staff to allow for satisfaction and professional growth.
- Defines job descriptions for each category of nursing personnel.
- Interviews and screens all applicants for the nursing service and evaluates their qualifications and experiences.
- Participates in formulating hospital policies, developing, and evaluating programs and services.
- Directs planning and implementation of staff development programs for different categories of nursing personnel and conducts monthly meetings for all nursing personnel.
- Promotes and maintains cordial relationships with patients, their families, and the community, providing opportunities for nursing staff to work with other groups to interpret the aim of the hospital as fostering good interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships.
- Participates in the hospital outreach program.
- Represents nursing service personnel in professional meetings and provides for healthful living conditions for nursing personnel.
- Subject to call as the need arises.
- Conducts daily ward rounds to gain insight into the problems and needs presented by patients, families, nurses, and other health disciplines.
- Manages approved schedules of duties and off duties.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Attends seminars and workshops locally and nationally as needed.
- Recruits and recommends personnel for appointment, promotion, or dismissal depending on staffing needs of the services.
- Conducts orientation for newly hired nursing personnel, clinical instructors from various colleges of nursing, and nursing students for their exposure to the hospital.
- In charge of the linen department, supervises and evaluates the linen clerk's performance, checks and approves the segregation of condemned linen, and makes purchase orders for replacements. Monitors linen stock and coordinates with Saniklean Inc. regarding laundry.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Experience
