Description
Required Qualifications:
This position requires either twelve years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering or closely related field and eight years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Progressively responsible and professional full-time experience related to the position.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale capital projects in a higher education or similar setting.
- Experience leading and developing employees, selecting and training qualified hires, and managing individual and team performance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), AutoCAD and Revit drafting software, and CADD file management.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering or closely related field.
- Current state of Florida architecture or General Contractor license.
- Experience in the design and construction of major buildings over $4 million in at an institution of higher education.
- Experience with Florida State University System space utilization and reporting requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of facility planning models within higher education.
- Knowledge of State of Florida building and construction codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
- Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.
- Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, guidelines and policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
- Ability to conduct short-range and long-range project planning studies.
