We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and analytical professional to take on the role of Tax Manager to lead the organization’s local tax affairs. In this role, you will leverage a deep understanding of tax laws, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to manage compliance, audits, and the execution of tax strategies, ensuring alignment with local tax regulations. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and external advisors to optimize tax outcomes while navigating complex tax issues as a strategic business partner. Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely filing of all direct and indirect tax returns, payments, and reconciliation of tax records in accordance with local laws.
- Tax Audits & Controversy Management: Manage tax audits by defending the company’s tax positions, negotiating with authorities, and coordinating the preparation and submission of relevant documentation.
- Tax Law Monitoring: Monitor changes in tax laws, assess tax impacts to ZALORA Group, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Tax Business Partnering: Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to assess the tax implications of new projects and business models.
- Tax Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency and minimize risks, providing advice on key transactions and business proposals.
- Conduct ad-hoc tax health checks to identify risks and opportunities, recommending changes as necessary.
- Secure tax rulings for complex or ambiguous transactions as needed.
- Transfer Pricing: Oversee transfer pricing reviews and ensure compliance with local and Group transfer pricing requirements.
- Group Reporting: Review quarterly tax provisions and deferred tax computations for accurate Group reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; a CPA or relevant tax certification is preferred.
- Preferably 8-10 years of experience in tax, including 2-3 years at a Big 4 or CPA firm.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in English is preferred.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Strong Excel skills; SAP experience is a plus.
- OK to work in a hybrid work environment (report to office at least once a week).
