Established in 1992, Miwatj Health is one of the largest Aboriginal healthcare providers in the country. We provide culturally appropriate, comprehensive healthcare services to over 8,500 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents and are committed to enabling Yolngu-powered community health and wellbeing.

Working for Miwatj Health, you will be based in East Arnhem Land. There, Yolngu (Aboriginal) culture – one of the oldest living cultures on Earth – thrives. As a Remote Area Nurse (RAN) / Midwife you will provide high quality, evidenced-based care; education for assigned health programs (e.g. Chronic Disease, Child Health, RHD); and participate in routine service delivery of vaccinations to the community. Miwatj Health RANs are clinical experts—in this role, you will mentor students and Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs), support AHPs as the primary health carers within the community, and work to build stronger communities together with the wider Miwatj Health team.
RAN / Midwife clinic location options include Galiwin’ku, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi and Ramingining, Northern Territory, Australia. All successful applicants will have access to a range of benefits found below:
- Competitive salary of $119,634 to $128,524 AUD per annum.

Vaccination & Immunity Screening

In accordance with the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Guidelines, National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards, and other local policies, guidelines and procedures, we mandate that all staff abide by our Staff Vaccination and Immunity Screening Policy (to be supplied to all successful candidates).
Successful applicants must have a manual drivers license and be New Zealand citizens as Miwatj Health is unable to provide any visa assistance.
A minimum mandatory requirement for credentials is to have completed CRANA courses (or similar) of Remote Emergency Care, Maternal Emergency Care and Advanced Life Support along with Basic Life Support and CPR certification. Desirable qualifications are being a Nurse Immuniser accredited in Australia.
