About the role:
You will:
- Build and develop a Structural Engineering team to service the infrastructure market, ensuring cohesion across Civil, Structural and Geotechnical engineering disciplines.
- Build the brand and networks with external stakeholders (e.g. government, clients, contractors) with a strong interface to industry.
- Work collaboratively with national Engineering and Project Management resources to create opportunities, respond to project needs and deliver multidisciplinary projects.
The Principal Structural Engineer will spend a significant amount of time in the office working collaboratively with team members and project stakeholders. There may be the requirement to work remotely from time to time, however this will be on a limited basis. There is the need to travel for this role – the incumbent will be required to attend client’s offices and work sites in a face-to-face capacity. At times, this may include extended periods on site for investigation and monitoring campaigns as well as visits to other offices and working sites, however it is not expected this would exceed 20% of working hours within a rolling 12-month period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the professional development of less experienced engineers, including interns and undergraduates to support pathways to Chartership and Professional Engineering qualifications.
- Active participation and leadership in technical excellence projects and initiatives to continuously improve practices at Red Fox and support innovation.
- Leading projects on behalf of Clients or as part of the team.
- Monitoring time/cost/quality performance within projects and identifying corrective actions.
- Coordinating contractual and governance issues.
- Provide critical review and advice on significant risks and issues across projects and the organisation to support decision making.
- Implementation and monitoring of company and project policies, goals and objectives.
- Assign, monitor and manage team tasks and deadlines to ensure project milestones are met.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing opportunities to develop & cross-skill team members.
- Performance Management activities with team members including goal setting, 1:1 performance and development discussions, mentoring and coaching.
- Actively seek additional business from existing clients and pursue new business with untapped market opportunities.
- Building strong professional working relationships with key stakeholders – e.g. clients, industry professionals and business vertical leaders.
About you:
You will have:
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience in a Structural Engineering role, working on client projects in a hands-on capacity.
- Tertiary qualifications – Bachelor of Engineering – ESSENTIAL .
- Registered Professional Engineering Queensland (RPEQ) Practising qualifications – ESSENTIAL .
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) Practising qualifications – ESSENTIAL .
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft suite, and virtual meeting and collaboration tools.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SE design applications and software (e.g.: Revit, ACES Bridge Analysis System, SpaceGASS).
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to determine priorities and meet concurrent project deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team to meet project goals and operational targets.
- Ability to provide, receive and apply constructive feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
- General Induction Training card (QLD).
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to prepare documentation, spreadsheets and presentations to a high level.
