The Opportunity:
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Mechanical/Structural Engineer who relishes diverse challenges and is eager to make a meaningful impact. In this role, you will immerse yourself in the realm of Mechanical and Structural Engineering, working on an array of projects centered around mining processing equipment. From concept development and scoping to certification, fabrication support, and site acceptance testing, you will play a vital role in driving engineering projects forward.
Responsibilities:
- Perform design calculations to ensure safe design and compliance with Australian Standards.
- Produce design and fabrication drawings including required additional information i.e. welding standards, paint standards, tolerances etc, following drawing registration and control procedures.
- Check drawings and calculations of designs generated by colleagues for accuracy and practicality.
- Undertake testing of equipment under development as part of this process.
- Analyse data and calculations making design changes to improve performance of machine upgrades and new equipment.
- Site travel to gather information/details of installed machines to allow for engineering upgrades to be performed to accommodate change of operation/application.
- National and International site travel to provide engineering services, such as 3D scanning, DEM modelling, machine inspections and other customer requirements.
- Perform root cause investigation of failed components and generate technical reports.
About You:
- Holds a bachelor's degree (Mechanical / Structural Engineering) with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in a similar position, coupled with an exceptional understanding of Australian codes and standards that qualifies you to confidently sign off on complex structures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in a diverse array of software, including Solidworks, Enovia and AutoCAD, alongside engineering tools such as Mathcad, Microstran, STAAD. Pro, RAM-Connect, Ansys (Linear/Non-linear), and others.
- A wide-ranging engineering background that encompasses structural engineering, truss structures, lifting tools, transport frames, planetary drives and gearboxes, vibrating equipment, and shafts and bearing design.
- A proud member of Engineers Australia, holding CP Eng. status that symbolizes your commitment to excellence in the field.
- Exhibits the ability to perform intricate manual calculations while effectively utilizing engineering tools to design, validate, and confidently sign off on complex structures.
